March 2 – Indian captain Virat Kohli has broken another record, albeit this time off the field as he became the 1st Indian and 1st cricketer to reach the 100 million followers mark on Instagram. Notably, Kohli is the most followed cricketer on Instagram while he is the fourth on the list of athletes across all sports after Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr.
Kohli is the only cricketer in the world’s top-10 highest-earning sportspersons through sponsored posts on Instagram. Cristiano Ronaldo the most followed sportsperson on Instagram with 265 million followers. Barcelona captain Lionel Messi is second on the list with 186 million followers, while Brazil star forward Neymar is on third with 147 million followers.
Virat Kohli, who enjoys massive fan across all social media platforms, beat the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone to become the first Indian to gain as many as 100 million Instagram followers. Kohli also holds the top position as the country’s most valuable celebrity brand with a brand value of $237.7 million, according to a leading brand valuation.
Kohli is presently leading the Indian team in Ahmedabad, gearing up for the fourth and final Test against England. After being stunned in the opening Test match, India made a solid comeback and registered two back-to-back wins.
