Colombo, May 18 (newsin.asia) – The number of coronavirus positive patients detected in Sri Lanka crossed the 145,000 mark today (18) as another 2,456 new Covid-19 cases had been detected yesterday (17).
2,433 of these cases were from the New Year cluster while 23 cases were those who returned from overseas.
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases stands at 145,202 with 24,592 active cases across the island according to the Department of Government Information.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed 19 COVID-19 deaths on Monday (17), raising the total number of fatalities in the country to 981.
The total number of recoveries in the country also increased to 119,629, according to the Health Promotion Bureau.
A decision has been taken to impose an island-wide travel restriction again from 11 pm on Friday (21) to Tuesday (25) till 4 am continuously, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said.
Then, travel restrictions will be imposed again from 11 pm on May 25 to 4 am on May 28, he said.
