Colombo, May 31: The government of Bangladesh committed essential medicines and medical supplies worth US $2.3 million (LKR 830 million) as gift for the people of Sri Lanka.
The first consignment of the medicines has reached Sri Lanka. In a token handover ceremony at the Health Ministry today, the Health Minister of Sri Lanka Keheliya Rambukkwella received the medicines from Bangladesh High Commissioner Tareq Md Ariful Islam.
The donation consists of 79 essential medications including anti-cancer, anti-hypertensive, antibiotic oral and injectables, anti-viral, anti-epileptic and anti-asthmatic medication.
