Colombo, April 27 (newsin.asia) – Sri Lanka recorded the highest single-day spike in coronavirus cases on Tuesday (April 27) as 422 more persons were tested positive for the virus, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) revealed.
The daily cases count surpassed the grim milestone of 1,000 for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
Sri Lanka has thus registered a total of 1,096 fresh cases of coronavirus within the day while the cumulative cases tally touches 103,472.
The 2nd dose vaccination of the Oxford Astra-Zeneca will commence tomorrow (28) for frontline health workers. All schools in the island will be closed until Friday, 30th April, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera announced today.
