Ayodhya (India), October 28 (newsin.asia): A sanctified stone from the Seetha temple in Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka was ceremonially handed over to the Ram temple in Ayodhya in India by the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in India, Milinda Morgoda on Thursday.
The sanctified stone was taken from the Seetha Amman temple located where Seetha was held captive by Ravana. It was handed over to Chief Priest of the Ram Mandir, Shthendradas.
The Ram Mandir is a Hindu temple that is being built in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India, at the site of Ram Janmabhoomi, believed to be the birthplace of Rama, a principal deity of Hinduism.
The Government of Sri Lanka had made this offering at the request of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was collected by a Member of Parliament, V. Radhakrishnan, Trustee – Seetha Amman Temple, Nuwara Eliya, S. Sundaralingam, Trustee – Mayurapathi Amman Temple, Mayura Place, Colombo 06 and E. Muthukrishnan, a leading businessmen of Colombo, in the presence of Gopal Baglay, the High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka at a function held at the Mayurapathi Amman Temple Hall on Thursday, 18th March 2021.
