Playing down safety concerns could hamper people’s response to the Covid threat and aggravate the crisis, State Minister of Primary Health Services, Pandemics and COVID Prevention, Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle warned. She told reporters in Negombo yesterday that a massive crisis would be inevitable if people continued to take the warnings for granted.

“At the same time, the number of infections in several areas is also on the rise, she said.
“In the light of this situation, it is noteworthy that people abide by the health rules and guidelines especially when they venture outside,” the State Minister emphasised.
“The effectiveness of the measures taken so far in order to curb the spread of the virus is largely dependent on individual behaviour,” she added.
