Besides the statement, Shilpa Shetty tried to explain to the crime branch officials who reached her residence that her husband, Raj Kundra, was not involved in producing porn movies. She told the crime branch that Raj Kundra used to make erotic movies and not porn movies and explained how both are different.
In her statement, Shilpa Shetty said she wasn’t aware of the exact content of HotShots. She also said that content on other OTT platforms and web series is more pornographic in nature.
The Crime Branch team will now verify her statement and further investigate the matter.
How is Raj Kundra related to porn movies racket?
Indian-British businessman Raj Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Police in connection with a case registered against him for the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps. The police claimed that it had “sufficient evidences” that Raj Kundra was the key conspirator in the case.
“Newcomer women artists were offered break in web series and short films and asked to undergo auditions. During this process, they were told to do bold scenes that later turned into semi-nude and nude scenes. Some of them had approached the Crime Branch in this regard,” Milind Bharambe, Mumbai Joint CP (Crime), said.
The Mumbai Police has alleged that Raj Kundra was a financial beneficiary of the platform and foreign funds associated with the app’s business needed to be investigated.
Though Raj Kundra has distanced himself from the app business, the prosecutors have claimed that he was involved in the business via a WhatsApp group.
