Colombo, Oct 11 (News 1st) – The Government of Sri Lanka recently lifted the control prices of several essential items in bid to put an end to people lining up for hours to purchase goods.
The items are Wheat Flour, Milk Powder, Cement and LP Gas and others.

LITRO
12.5 Kg – Rs. 2,750 (Previous Price was Rs. 1,493/-)
5 Kg – Rs. 1,101/- (Previous Price was Rs. 598/-)
2.5 Kg – Rs. 520 (Previous Price was Rs. 289/-)
LAUGFS
5 Kg – Rs. 1,136/- (Previous Price was Rs. 743)
12.5 Kg – Rs. 2,840/- (Previous Price was Rs. 1,856)
CEMENT
Accordingly, the price of a 50 Kg cement bag has been increased by Rs. 93. This will bring the new price of the 50 Kg cement bag to Rs. 1,098.
WHEAT FLOUR
Serendib Flour Mills (Pvt.) Ltd says that the price of wheat flour will be increased by Rs. 10 per kilogram with effect from today (11).
The price of Prima wheat flour is also expected to rise by the same amount.
OTHER ITEMS
Considering the recent gas price increase, the All Island Canteen Owners’ Association (AICOA) is to increase the prices of lunch packets, fried rice, kottu and a cup of milk tea by Rs.10 soon.
FUEL
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says that the prices of fuel need to be increased as the CPC has suffered a loss of Rs. 70 Billion.
