Colombo, April 21 (newsin.asia) – The Mrs. World Inc. announced that it has accepted the resignation of Mrs. World 2020 Caroline Jurie.
“Her voluntary resignation decision was made solely by Caroline herself,” Mrs World Inc said in a statement.
In 2019, Caroline Jurie from Sri Lanka had been crowned Mrs. World at a pageant held in Las Vegas, USA on December 06, more than three decades after the previous Sri Lankan (Rosy Senanayake) won a similar title in 1984.
The Organization said Mrs. Ireland, Kate Schneider who had emerged as the first runner up in the pageant last year, will be named as Mrs. World 2020 instead.
Caroline Jurie uncrowned the winner, Pushpika De Silva on stage and crowned the first runner up instead claiming that Pushpika was a divorcee and hence was ineligible for the crown at the Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant in Colombo. A complaint had been filed against Jurie and former model Chula Padmendra over the incident.
They were later arrested by the Cinnamon Gardens Police and released on bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
