New Delhi, February 24 (The Hindu): The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, hours after the latter announced a military operation in Ukraine.
“The Prime Minister reiterated his long-standing conviction that the differences between Russia and the NATO group can only be resolved through honest and sincere dialogue. Prime Minister appealed for an immediate cessation of violence, and called for concerted efforts from all sides to return to the path of diplomatic negotiations and dialogue,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
PM Modi also sensitised President Putin about concerns over the safety of Indians, attaching the highest priority to their safe exit, the PMO said.
