Colombo, November 8 (newsin.asia): The High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Delhi celebrated this year’s Diwali by honoring its long-serving Indian staff members and with a get together that included the family members of both home-based and local staff numbering around 150.
The felicitation ceremony and the family get together were held on 5 November in the garden of the official residence of the High Commissioner Milinda Morgoda.

The event also included distribution of Diwali gifts to the children and families, lighting of Diwali lamps and a dinner. It was organized under the instructions and full patronage of the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India Milinda Moragoda, with a view to promoting camaraderie between the home- based and local staffs, and particularly to recognize and honor the services of Indian staff members who have served in the High Commission for more than thirty years.

In this regard, five Indian staff members who have served more than thirty years in the High Commission were felicitated at the event. Notably, the High Commissioner, with the support of the Sri Lankan private sector, had made arrangements for these long-serving five staff members and their spouses to undertake a visit to Sri Lanka with a five-night stay, and the announcement in this regard was made at the family get together.
Mrs. Jennifer Moragoda also joined the High Commissioner in distributing Diwali gifts to children and felicitating long-service staff members.
