New Delhi, August 7 (IndiaToday) – The Delhi Police has busted a factory that was involved in manufacturing and selling of counterfeit Surf Excel powder. The factory owner, Mukesh Garg, was arrested by the police.
The probe was initiated after a complaint that was lodged by Rajesh Kumar, representing Assiduous Consulting India Limited, regarding the manufacturing of counterfeit Surf Excel washing powder in the outer north districts of Delhi.

On receipt of this complaint, local intelligence was developed and the facts of the complaint were ascertained.
The team conducted a raid in the factory being run in a godown situated in Delhi’s Kureni village.
A huge quantity of duplicate Surf Excel detergent powder along with fake packing material, automatic electric sealing and packing machines etc was recovered from the site.
During interrogation, accused Mukesh Garg revealed that he had been in the business of piracy for a long time and also has a shop in Grain Market and Mandi in Narela, from where he used to run his illegal business of selling and black marketing of different grains especially wheat supplied at very low prices by the government.
According to the Police, Mukesh Garg said he suffered losses in his said business because his own partner duped him in their illegal business. After that, the accused started his own unit for manufacturing and sale of different daily consumable items of well-known brands and companies in the area of Bawana, Delhi.
Earlier, in the said factory in the Bawana area, one of his labour got injured and he was arrested in the case. After that incident, the accused left Bawana and started his new factory in Samaypur Badli and was arrested for the production and sale of duplicate Tata Salt.
After his arrest, in this case, the accused again changed his place of work and started his new factory cum godown for production and sale of duplicate Surf Excel. The accused revealed that he used to sell the duplicate Surf Excel in different parts of Delhi and NCR.
Accused Mukesh Garg has three previous involvements. Prior to this, he has been arrested three times for indulging in such unlawful activities.
