Colombo, May 24 (Daily Mirror) – A decision will be taken mid this week on whether the islandwide travel restriction will be extended beyond Friday, May 28, Army Commander and Head of the National Operations Center for the Prevention of COVID19 Outbreak, General Shavendra Silva told Daily Mirror.
Silva said a meeting will be held mid this week and the situation will be thoroughly assessed before a decision is made.

He said on Tuesday, the travel restriction will be lifted at 4am in the morning and re-imposed at 11pm. During this time, Silva urged people to stay indoors and leave home only if most required.
“We understand if people need to stock up on groceries and medicines. Therefore we urged that only one member per household should leave home and stock up on essentials. Others should not leave home if not required,” Silva said.
The government has declared Tuesday a special government holiday and while supermarkets, grocery stores, pharmacies and banks will be open, all other business establishments should be kept closed. (Jamila Husain)
