Dhaka, March 9 (www.bdnews24.com): Train driver Salma Khatun became a symbol of women’s emancipation and progress in Bangladesh when she broke a major male bastion in 2004 to become the first female locomotive driver in the Bangladesh railways.
Salma was the only female locomotive driver in the country for seven years. But many women followed her footsteps with the result today, there are 15 of them.
