Mumbai, August 28 (IndiaToday) – A 16-year-old boy from Mumbai withdrew a sum Rs 10 lakh from his parent’s account and invested the money in purchasing virtual cash on PUBG. The teenager had initially told his parents that the money was for online gaming sessions.
The boy, who was addicted to playing PUBG, had initially left his home in the suburban area of Jogeshwari after being reprimanded by his parents for wasting Rs 10 lakh. He had left a note before leaving the house.
His parents had approached the MIDC police on Wednesday and registered a missing complaint of their child. The parents informed the police that their son had left a note behind which said that he was leaving home and would not return. The local police then alerted the crime branch.
A massive search operation was launched. On Thursday afternoon, the police located him after getting information from his classmates and friends and after examining the CCTV footage. He was spotted some distance away from his house near Mahakali Caves Road.
The parents told the police how the young boy had become addicted to PUBG to the extent that he didn’t think twice before withdrawing the big amount. Both parents and the teenager were counselled by the police team.
