Colombo, May 10 (NIA) – Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena will unveil the world’s first Vesak pandal erected with laser technology on May 10 at the Galle Face Green, the Government Information Department said here Wednesday.
The pandal will be exhibited from May 10th to May 14th in parallel to the Kolomthota Vesak Zone on a concept of Port and Shipping Minister Arjuna Ranatunge.
The Kolomthota Vesak Zone is organized by the Ministry of Port and Shipping, Sri Lanka Port Authority, and the Buddhist Association of the Port.
Several areas across Sri Lanka have been grandly lit up with lights and Vesak Pandals to celebrate Vesak which commemorates the birth, enlightenment and passing away of Lord Buddha.
Sri Lanka will host the International Vesak Day events for the first time this year with the presence of several foreign dignitaries including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
