Colombo, June 30 (NewsWire) – The Colombo Bird Park project in Madiwela was inaugurated by State Minister of Urban Development Nalaka Godahewa yesterday (28).
A 39 acre bird park will be created in Madiwela to attract foreign tourists and to revive the tourism sector of Sri Lanka.

State Minister Godahewa said a wetland in the Madiwala area is being utilised to be converted as a bird park, while the project is estimated to cost Rs. 1.51 billion. It will be completed within the next two years.
The project is part of the Government’s beautification programme covering areas in and around Colombo.
He said on the directive of the Prime Minister, several nature related projects have been launched to attract tourists to Colombo.
