July 21 (IndiaToday) – The mercury has alarmingly shot up in parts of Europe that are reeling under a severe heatwave due to wildfires raging across Portugal, Spain, France, Greece and Croatia. Amid this, the UK has been experiencing scorching temperatures topping 40 degrees Celsius. As a result, the daily lives of the citizens have taken a hit as incidents of damaged train signals were reported.
According to posts shared by the official Twitter handle of National Railways, photos of molten train signalling equipment gave a clear depiction of the dire condition. “We’re also asking you to check your journeys before travelling on the East Coast Main Line today because we expect severe disruption. We’re repairing the line after a fire on the route between Peterborough and London King’s Cross,” read the caption.
