Colombo, August 5 (DailyMirror) – Tight measures will be taken in due course if the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country goes out of control, Deputy Director-General of Health Services Dr Hemantha Herath said.
Addressing a media briefing at the Health Promotion Bureau, he said that the decision to impose travel restrictions or lockdown would be decided by the government accordingly.

“The health authorities have been taking relevant steps after reviewing the situation time to time,” he said.
“We are currently on the move of facing the COVID-19 situation while maintaining a balance with economic and social aspects,” Dr Herath pointed out.
However, he stressed if the authorities felt that the restrictions should be tightened or the country should go for lockdown, appropriate measures will be taken with no hesitation.
Dr Herath also reiterated the importance of strictly following health guidelines and practices until further notice.
