Colombo, Feb 27 (newsin.asia) – Sri Lanka’s national air carrier, Sri Lankan Airlines, has cancelled all its flights to the Pakistani cities of Karachi and Lahore scheduled for Thursday, following the temporary closure of Pakistani airspace by the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan, Sri Lankan Airlines said in a statement here Wednesday.
The airline advised passengers who were booked to fly to Karachi and Lahore to contact their travel agents.
“The safety of all of our passengers is of paramount importance to Sri Lankan Airlines. The airline is closely monitoring the situation and is in constant touch with respective authorities on this matter,” the airline said.
Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority closed Pakistani airspace on Wednesday, in wake of the growing tension with neighboring India.
All international and domestic flights from the country’s major airports were suspended.
