Colombo, April 4 (NIA) – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack at Saint Petersburg, Russia on Monday evening which killed 11 people and injured scores more.
In a message, Sirisena expressed his condolences to the affected families and stated, “Sri Lanka condemns the incident at Saint Petersburg which caused deaths and injuries to many in Russia.”
At least 11 people were killed in a blast on the Saint Petersburg metro Monday which Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev described as a “terrorist act.”
The explosion tore through a train as it was traveling between two stations in Russia’s second-largest city.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which led to the shutdown of the city’s metro system.
