Colombo, Nov 26 (NIA) – Sri Lankan Police on Saturday said it had launched a probe into a clash between student groups at a leading international school in Colombo on Friday.
The incident occurred on Friday late noon when a group of around 30 students from a leading private school had barged into a leading international school and assaulted one of its students due to a personal rivalry.
The group had allegedly also assaulted one of the school teachers and a security guard who tried to prevent the mob from entering the school.
“The student was assaulted very badly and has been admitted to hospital. This was all due to a dispute between the student and a student from another leading school. The latter student had in his anger alerted his friends from a private school who stormed into this school and thrashed the student,” an official connected to the school said.
Two members from the mob had been caught by the security guards who had handed them over to the police.
The victim continues to receive treatment in hospital.
