Aug 12 (NIA) – Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will undertake a 4 day observation visit to China, beginning Saturday, his office said in a statement here on Friday.
Wickremesinghe will be accompanied by a large delegation, including Western Megapolis Minister Champika Ranawaka and they are expected to visit industrial zones, container terminals, financial centres and other industrial hubs in China.
Wickremesinghe and his delegation are to seek assistance for economic development during the visit, the statement added.
The visit comes at a time when the Sri Lankan government, who were initially critical of China, are now leaning towards attracting more Chinese investments.
China already has a firm hold in Sri Lanka with several Chinese projects including a 1.4 billion dollar Port City project which will transform the island nation into a regional hub between Singapore and Dubai.
