Colombo, Dec 13 (NIA) – Sri Lanka’s state owned airline carrier, Sri Lankan Airlines resumed flights to Chennai in southern India on Tuesday after cancelling its flights due to adverse weather in Tamil Nadu.
The Airline said it had resumed its operations to Chennai with the deployment of five wide body aircraft.
Officials said that SriLankan airlines flight UL129 which was scheduled to leave for Chennai at 7.20 a.m. local time took off at 11.26 a.m. after receiving clearance from the Chennai International Airport.
Sri Lankan Airlines, on Monday announced that it had cancelled all flights to Chennai due to cyclone Vardah hitting the Tami Nadu coast.
The Chennai International Airport had been shut down after a red alert was issued due to severe weather.
