Colombo, Jan 16 (NIA) – Sri Lanka has been told to prepare for colder nights and mornings as temperatures are expected to drop to 18 degrees in some of the main cities while in the Central Hills of Nuwera Eliya, temperatures are expected to drop to as low as 4 degrees, the Meteorology Department said.
Misty conditions can also be expected at some places of the island during the morning particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Central provinces.
Due to the cold temperatures in the Central Hills of Nuwera Eliya, the Meteorology Department said that ground frost can be expected at some places in the district in the early hours of the morning.
Fairly strong winds, at times, can also be expected over the Southern half of the country.
