Sept 5 (NIA) – Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry, on Monday, summoned Malaysia’s High Commissioner in Sri Lanka to express its deepest concerns over the assault of a Sri Lankan envoy in Kuala Lampur.
Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, I. Ansar was assaulted by a group of people at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Sunday.
Ansar is receiving medical attention in Malaysia.
The Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry said the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur is coordinating with local law enforcement authorities and other relevant local authorities to identify perpetrators and assist with investigations.
The ministry is taking all necessary action in this regard through diplomatic channels, the Foreign Ministry said.
