Colombo, May 23 (NIA) – Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry, on Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack at the Manchester arena in the United Kingdom.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Mahishini Colonne said in a statement, “Saddened by the attack in Manchester. Sri Lanka condemns this heinous act. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.”
The Foreign Ministry further said that there had been no reports of any Sri Lankan casualties from the attack but the Ministry was continuing to monitor the situation.
At least 19 people have been killed and about 50 injured in a suspected terror attack at Manchester Arena on Monday.
British Prime Minister Theresa May said her thoughts were with those affected by “what is being treated by the police as an appalling terrorist attack”.
