Colombo, Jan 4 (NIA) – Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers, on Wednesday approved to launch a national programme to protect children from various threats prevailing in the island country, Cabinet Spokesperson, Rajitha Senaratne said here on Wednesday.
In a weekly media briefing, Senaratne said that according to a proposal made by President Maithripala Sirisena, it has been decided to implement the ‘Let’s Protect Children’ National Programme within the 3 years of 2017 to 2019.
According to the action plan prepared, children will protected and prevented from abuse/abduction.
The programme will also cover other main areas such as health, nutrition and welfare, and personality development, education and life skills, Senaratne said.
