Colombo, July 19 (newsin.asia) – Sri Lanka’s Ministry of National Co-existence, Dialogue and Official Languages, headed by Minister Mano Ganeshan, on Tuesday launched a book titled ‘People of Sri Lanka’ which features ethnic minority communities in the island.
The first copy of the book was handed over to President Maithripala Sirisena at a gala event held at the BMICH in Colombo which was also attended by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and Joint Opposition Member Vasudeva Nanayakkara.
At least 19 communities, having roots back to China, India, Africa, Dutch, Persia, Pakistan and Malaysia, have been featured in the book, giving an in depth explanation of their culture and customs.
President Maithripala Sirisena also presented awards for the individuals who contributed to author this book representing the 19 ethnic groups.
