Colombo, October 28 (newsin.asia) – Curfew has been imposed on the entire Western Province from midnight tomorrow (29).
The curfew will continue until 5 am in the morning on Monday (2) the Army Commander Shavendra Silva said.
However, the curfew in areas where it has already been imposed will continue even after Monday, according to the Army Commander.
The public in the Western Province have been requested not to stock up on essential goods unnecessarily following the announcement of the curfew, he added.
According to the Health Promotion Bureau, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases stands at 8,870 with 4,808 active cases across the island while 4,043 cases have recovered with 19 deaths reported so far.
Sri Lanka conducted a record 10,740 PCR tests in a day yesterday (Tuesday). The total number of PCR tests conducted in the country stands at 469,286 according to the Health Promotion Bureau.
