Colombo, March 2 (NIA) – Sri Lanka’s Education Ministry, on Thursday said that strict disciplinary action will be taken against school students who violate discipline guidelines and urged principals to take action if students are found breaking school discipline laws.
The strict guidelines were put in place after a a group of students from three leading schools clashed in Colombo last month resulting in six students being hospitalized and several being arrested.
The clash occurred in two separate incidents involving students of Ananda and Nalanda and D. S. Senanayake College.
The Education Ministry said it would not tolerate any such unruly behaviour and had instructed officials to be on alert especially during inter-school cricket matches, and other inter-school functions.
