Colombo, Dec 7 (NIA) – Sri Lanka’s cabinet on Wednesday approved to set up high level committees in each of its ministries to eliminate gender based violence in all workplaces.
Cabinet Spokeserson, Rajitha Senaratne said that Sri Lanka was bound to take action to eliminate violence against women in workplaces according to the international conventions it has entered.
Accordingly, the proposal made by Chandrani Bandara, Minister of Women and Child Affairs, to appoint committees of senior officials in each ministry to eliminate gender based violence in all workplaces, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, Senaratne said.
