Colombo, November 1 (newsin.asia) – Quarantine curfew in the Western Province has been extended until 9th November, 5 a.m.
Commander of the Sri Lanka Army and the Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva delivered the announcement in a special statement this evening.
Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said nearly 67,000 people are currently undergoing the self-quarantine process throughout the island. They belong to 25,000 families, most of them are from the Colombo and Gampaha districts.
The Government has launched a programme to provide Rs.10,000 worth of essential food items to families under self-quarantine in their respective homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The DailyNews reported.
The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases stands at 10,663 with 5,738 active cases across the island according to the Health Promotion Bureau. 4,905 cases have recovered so far with 20 deaths reported.
