Colombo, May 1 (newsin.asia) – The number of coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka crossed the 108,000 mark as 1662 new COVID-19 cases had been detected yesterday (30).
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases stands at 108,146 with 11,504 active cases across the island according to the Government Information Department. The number of recovered and discharged cases has increased to 95,975.
Eleven COVID-19 related deaths were reported yesterday (30) which brings the total number of deaths recorded in the country to 678.

Sri Lanka’s daily cases count have been staying above the grim milestone of 1,000 for a fourth consecutive day since April 27.
The police has arrested 104 more individuals within the past 24 hours for not following quarantine regulations which brings the total count of arrests to 4,191 since 30th of October last year, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said.
Sixteen Grama Niladhari Divisions in Kalutara and Polonnaruwa districts have been placed under isolation orders with immediate effect, says Commander of Army General Shavendra Silva.
The isolated areas are as follows:
Baduraliya police area (Kalutara District):
• Bolunna Grama Niladhari Division
• Ingurudaluwa Grama Niladhari Division
• Midalana Grama Niladhari Division
• Morapitiya Grama Niladhari Division
• Peleda Grama Niladhari Division
• Hedigalla Grama Niladhari Division
• Morapitiya North Grama Niladhari Division
Theeniyawala police area (Kalutara District):
• Theeniyawala Grama Niladhari Division
Meegahathenna police area (Kalutara District):
• Walallawita South Grama Niladhari Division
• Makalandawa Grama Niladhari Division
• Katuyakele Welmeegoda Grama Niladhari Division
• Bothalawa Grama Niladhari Division
• Pahala Hawessa Grama Niladhari Division
• Miriswatta Grama Niladhari Division
