Colombo, Dec 3 (newsin.asia) – Sri Lanka confirmed its first case of the COVID-19 omicron variant on a passenger coming from an African country, Health Promotion Bureau said.
The Bureau said a Sri Lankan National who had returned from South Africa has been confirmed to have contracted the Omicron variant.
The spread of the latest strain comes as Sri Lanka continues to relax pandemic-related travel restrictions.

The Health Ministry has urged people not to panic as all preventive measures were being taken to prevent a spread.
