Colombo, May 12 (newsin.asia) – According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the positivity rate should remain below five for two weeks in a row for a country to consider opening-up.
Seven percent of PCR tests carried out in the first week of May had returned positive the Disaster Preparedness and Response Division of the Health Ministry said yesterday.
Breakdown of the PCR tests carried out:
May 1 – 25,232 PCR tests – 6.59% positive cases – 1,662 cases.
May 2 – 23,631 PCR tests – 7.26% positive cases – 1716 cases.
May 3 – 18,584 PCR tests – 10.18% positive cases – 1891 cases.
May 4 – 22,379 PCR tests – 8.59% positive cases – 1923 cases.
May 5 – 26,360 PCR tests – 7.26% positive cases – 1914 cases.
May 6 – 27,883 PCR tests – 6.95% positive cases – 1939 cases.
May 7 – 22,889 PCR tests – 8.28% positive cases – 1895 cases.
May 8 – 25,177 PCR tests – 7.60% positive cases – 1914 cases.
