Colombo, Jan 25 (DailyMirror) – Children within the age group from 16 to 19 who have completed three months since the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine started to receive their second from today.
State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana requested parents to send their children to get them vaccinated with the relevant dose without hesitation or delay.
Meanwhile, he said Sri Lanka will most likely face a massive surge of Omicron cases as global cases are expected to peak over the next couple of weeks.
Against this backdrop, Prof. Jayasumana addressing the media raised the importance of receiving the booster dose to which people show slight hesitancy.
“The immunity gained by people through first and the second dose is on the wane and therefore, receiving the booster is of utmost importance,” he added.
