Colombo, Feb 3 (NewsWire) – Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says he believes former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake will be released on Independence Day, which will be commemorated tomorrow.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader made the statement to reporters after visiting Ramanayake in prison this morning (03).

“As an artist, Ranjan Ramanayake has served the film industry with great commitment. As a leader, he has provided his salary, allowances, and all other benefits for public service. I believe, he will be granted a complete release from prison tomorrow,” MP Premadasa added.
Stating that a request will be made from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to prioritize humanity, he said Ramanayake must be released tomorrow in support of all human rights activists.

The Opposition Leader further emphasized that he is making this proposal on behalf of humanity.
Former SJB MP Ranjan Ramanayake is currently serving a 04-year sentence after being convicted on charges of contempt of court.
