Colombo, March 23: The High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Pakistani community-based in Sri Lanka celebrated the 84th National Day of Pakistan to make Pakistan a strong, vibrant, and progressive state.
The High Commissioner of Pakistan Maj. General (Retd) Umar Farooq Burki HI (M) hoisted the national flag of Pakistan to the tune of the national anthem in a colorful ceremony, held at the Pakistan High Commission. Later, the messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out to the audience.

On the occasion, the High Commissioner, Maj. General (Retd) Umar Farooq Burki HI (M), added that Pakistan greatly values its relations with Sri Lanka which are based on mutual trust and understanding. It is a matter of great satisfaction that these mutually beneficial relations, rooted in history, have become truly multi-dimensional, covering fields of politics, trade, defense, culture, education and people-to-people contacts.
Furthermore, the High Commissioner also extended sincere greetings and best wishes on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan to the Government and people of Sri Lanka for the continued progress, peace, national unity and harmony in the years ahead.
