Colombo, April 28 (DailyMirror) – Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian M.A.Sumanthiran has prepared a No-confidence Motion against President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, which will be submitted to Parliament when the House convenes next.
The Daily Mirror learns that the UNP has already expressed its support for this motion and moves are now underway to collect signatures from other opposition parties as well. If 113 signatures are collected on the NCM, there will be no legality to remove the President but this will clearly show that the Parliament has lost the trust in the President, which will further pressurize Gotabaya Rajapaksa to resign.

Senior sources said that in the event the President resigns, Parliament will then appoint a new President – a candidate who they will believe is the most suitable for the position.
UNP Assistant Leader Akila Viraj Kariyawasam told a press conference that the President will gain all powers of the government in the event the present Prime Minister and the cabinet is abolished if the no faith motion is approved,” he said. The aspirations of those who are protesting at Galle Face will not be met if President gains all power after the no faith motion is approved,” he added.

Asked whether UNP leader will accept the invitation made by the President to all parties that represent Parliament for a discussion on forming an interim administration on Friday, Mr. Kariyawasam said he is not aware of the party decision with regard to the matter.
UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardene said people do not want constitutional reforms at this moment.“all they want is the availability of essential goods and services at affordable prices. What is needed now is a resignation of President, Prime Minister and the cabinet,” he said. (Jamila Husain)
