Kathmandu, July 1 (The Kathmandu Post) – Nepal confirmed its 30th death from Covid-19 and registered 482 new cases on Wednesday.
A 45-year-old man from Ramaroshan Rural Municipality Ward 5 in Achham who died on June 28 during treatment at Bayalpata Hospital was confirmed to have been infected with the virus, said Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson for the Health Ministry.
“The person had diabetes and was admitted to Bayalpata Hospital in the district on June 27 after complaining of respiratory problems. Following his death, a swab sample was taken the following day. The result came positive on Tuesday,” said Gautam.
The ministry also confirmed 482 new cases in the last 24 hours to take the national Covid-19 tally to 14,046.
Gautam said a total of 3,656 individuals have recovered from the disease in the country, with 462 discharged in the last 24 hours.
“Samples of 126 individuals from Achham, 43 from Bajura, 36 from Mahottari, 27 from Kailali, 22 from Surkhet, 21 each from Dhanusha and Jhapa, 18 each from Bajhang and Doti, 15 from Salyan, 12 from Chitwan, 11 each from Banke, Bardiya and Nawalparasi (East), 11 from Lamjung and 10 each from Kanchanpur and Kathmandu tested positive for the virus,” said Dr Gautam.
“Eight each from Gulmi and Syangja, five from Lalitpur, three each from Baglung, Gorkha, Kaski and Morang, two each from Bhaktapur, Dailekh, Dang, Ilam, Kalikot, Palpa and Siraha and one each from Arghakhanchi, Saptari, Kavrepalanchok, Baitadi, Bara, Jumla, Nawalparasi (West), Parbat, Parsa, Sunsari, Tanahun and Taplejung also tested positive,” Dr Gautam added.
The country recorded 316 new cases on Tuesday while one death and 476 new infections were confirmed on Monday.
“So far, 233,227 polymerase chain reaction tests have been conducted across the country,” said Gautam.
