Male, September 9 (AVAS): The Maldivian Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure, on Sunday, awarded a MVR 26 million harbour development project to Sri Lankan firm, Senok Trade Combine Ltd, in Molhadhoo, Haa Alif Atoll.
The project was handed over to the company at a signing ceremony held at the ministry. The agreement was signed by the ministry’s Director General Fathimath Shana Farooq and Senok’s Accountant Prabath.
The total cost of the project amounts to MVR 26,984,891.28
As part of the construction, the company will develop an outer seawall spanning 232 meters, an inner seawall of 200 meters and revetments of 42 meters.
Recently, the Planning Ministry allocated a total of MVR 18.5 million from the state budget for the harbour expansion project of Felidhoo, Vaavu Atoll. According to the ministry, the coastal protection project of Rasdhoo, Alif Alif Atoll, is funded by MVR 7.9 million out of the free aid granted by the Indian government.
