Washington, January 21 (India Today) – US President Joe Biden has said Donald Trump left him a “very generous” letter in the Oval Office, in keeping with tradition.
“The president wrote a very generous letter,” Joe Biden told reporters at the White House, news agency AFP reported.
“Because it’s private, I will not talk about it until I talk to him,” Joe Biden said.
Donald Trump left a note for his successor Joe Biden in the White House, carrying forward a tradition of outgoing Presidents leaving a message for the incoming leaders in the Resolute Desk of the Oval Office.
It was unclear until Wednesday whether Trump would maintain the tradition of outgoing presidents leaving notes for their successors after he opted to skip Biden’s inauguration and never formally congratulated him on his election win.
Since the results of the November 3, 2020 elections were announced, Trump has consistently maintained that the “election was stolen” from him and that there was widespread fraud. He has not spoken to Biden since his election victory and refused to participate in a peaceful transition of power, a democratic ritual in the US.
Outgoing presidents leave a letter for the incoming presidents, usually containing congratulatory words and messages of support as well as best wishes for their tenure.
