Colombo, May 11 (newsin.asia): The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka has categorically denied rumours that India is planning to send its troops to Sri Lanka.
“The High Commission would like to categorically deny speculative reports in sections of media and social media about India sending her troops to Sri Lanka. These reports and such views are also not in keeping with the position of the Government of India.”
“The Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs of India clearly stated yesterday that India is fully supportive of Sri Lanka’s democracy, stability and economic recovery,” the High Commission said in a statement on Wednesday.
The rumour spread like wildfire after Dr.Subramanian Swamy, a member of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), tweeted on Tuesday, that India should send its troops to Sri Lanka to protect the constitutional structure there. END
