July 15 (DailyMirror) – President Gotabaya Rajapaksa who yesterday departed the Maldives and arrived in Singapore late evening, was later expected to leave for Jeddah and then Dubai, the Daily Mirror learns.

Rajapaksa departed the Maldives on Thursday morning with his wife on board a Saudi Airline flight and touched down in Singapore in the evening. The Maldives Foreign Ministry confirmed that Rajapaksa arrived in Singapore but had not sought asylum in Singapore.
Sources said he was in the VIP lounge of the Changi International Airport, but was expected to depart for Jeddah later in the night.

He is then likely to touch base in Dubai and is expected to seek political asylum in the Middle East.
Sources said that Rajapaksa’s resignation is expected to be further delayed, and he will give the green light only after he reaches his final destination.
