Colombo, August 7 (newsin.asia) – The number of coronavirus positive patients detected in Sri Lanka crossed the 324,000 mark as another 2,794 new Covid-19 cases had been detected across the country yesterday (6).
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases stands at 324,223 with 31,095 active cases registered across the island and as many as 288,307 recoveries according to the Government Information Department.

Sri Lanka also registered 98 more Covid-19 related deaths yesterday, the Director-General of Health Services confirmed. The victims have succumbed to the virus infection on Thursday (5).
As many as 70 deaths have been reported among elderly people who are aged above 60 years. In addition, one youth and 27 people aged between 30-59 years are also among the new victims.
This is currently the highest number of coronavirus-related deaths reported in a single day. The total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 4,919 as of now.
