Colombo, April 20 (NewsWire) – Seventeen employees of a wholesale material store in Pamunuwa, Maharagama have tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Neth News, the infected people were found after PCR tests were conducted on 46 people who were at the store.
A large crowd had visited the Pamunuwa market during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
An employee of a store had initially tested positive for COVID-19, after which his close associates had been placed in isolation.
The Public Health Inspector in charge of the area said PCR tests conducted on the group had revealed that 16 of them had contracted the virus.
Meanwhile, PCR tests conducted on 300 employees of a State Bank in Colombo- Fort have found that 35 people have been infected with COVID-19.
Eighteen of the infected people had been detected yesterday (19).
