Colombo, Nov. 8 (Xinhua): Public places in Sri Lanka are gradually opening as the epidemic situation eases. A rowing race on a water course near the artificial beach in Colombo Port City attracted many local enthusiasts on Saturday.

Over a hundred personnel from Colombo’s corporates, students, members of rowing clubs and even villagers, converged on the Port City for the first time to test their abilities against the rough waves of the Indian Ocean during the day-long exciting event.

The US$ 1.4 billion Colombo Port City is to be built on 269 hectares of land already reclaimed from the sea by a Chinese company. The city envisages ultra-modern facilities for business as well as entertainment of international standard.
