Dhaka, November 30 (NIA): Biman Bangladesh airlines has suspended six of its engineer division employees involved in the inspection of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s VVIP aircraft, which had to make an emergency landing in Turkmenistan en route to Hungary because of a technical glitch.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon told newsmen here that the plane had to make an emergency landing because of low lubricant oil pressure. But this was due to lack of care in the servicing of the aircraft ahead of departure.
The suspended officials are – S M Rokonuzzaman, Samiul Haque, Lutfor Rahman, Milon Chandra Biswas, Zakir Hossain and Siddiqur Rahman.
“The investigation committee found lack of responsibility. Though the technical glitch may occur due to default of aircraft engine or related with weather, the committee didn’t find any fault related to engine or weather,” Minister Menon said.
On November 23, a VVIP flight carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to make an emergency landing at Ashgabat International Airport in the capital of Turkmenistan on her way a UN water summit in Budapest, Hungary.
The plane was carrying 99 passengers including the Premier, four cockpit crews, 20 cabin crews and four aircraft engineers.
The four onboard flight engineers examined the engine and discovered a loose nut in the lubricant oil system. The engineers tightened the nut and replaced the lubricant oil. The Captain operated a test flight to ensure safety and the aircraft took off with the PM after four hours, the Bangladeshi media said.
