Mumbai, December 1 (newsin.asia) – India recorded 31,118 new coronavirus cases, the lowest daily tally since Nov. 17, according to the Health Ministry update at 8 am today (1).
The number of new daily cases has stayed below the 50,000 mark since Nov. 7 despite a busy Diwali season. India now has a total of 9.46 million COVID-19 infections.
Deaths rose by 482 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death count to 137,621.
The number of active cases dropped to 435,603, while 8,889,585 patients have recovered health ministry data showed.
According to Government data, India has conducted 140 million tests to detect Covid-19 in the past 11 months, of which 10 million tests were performed during the past 10 days.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has directed a price cut for the more reliable RT-PCR tests for COVID-19. Though these tests are being conducted free of cost in government hospitals, they can cost up to ₹ 2,400 in private laboratories.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan today said that up to 30 crore Indians would be inoculated against COVID-19 by August 2021 according to the central government’s plans.
